Welcoming Music at Covenant

Jun 17th, 2009 | By Rick | Category: What's New

For the month of July we will be experimenting with a different kind of welcoming music prior to our Sunday Morning Worship. Beginning at 10:50 AM, you will hear pre-recorded music being played in our sanctuary. This will include hymn arrangements, praise and worship songs, and light classical music, both with and without words. Please feel free to continue to speak to friends and newcomers while the music is being played in the background. It will end when the pastor begins his welcome and announcements, which will be followed by the Organ Voluntary and the remainder of our traditional Order of Worship.

The Worship Committee, the Church Staff, and the Seekers have all struggled with ways to make our worship service more welcoming. Although we consider ourselves a friendly congregation, on most Sundays we are slow to gather in the sanctuary. Anyone arriving early could find an imposing and nearly empty space where nothing is happening. We feel that soft music would provide a warmer ambience and encourage worshipers to gather sooner. As we make this effort during July, please prayerfully consider whether you think it accomplishes our intent.
